Dew Drop Inn Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
Historic old place with decor to prove it. Great service even tho busy, delicious food. Had cheeseburger they are famous for with chili. The chili is more like sloppy joe and an amazing addition! Steak style fries were crispy outside and soft inside and delicious. Local art adorns the walls for a unique experience unlike anywhere else and most are for sale! Definitely would recommend.
Just a great vibe here. You can definitely feel the history. The hot dog is a must as that is what they are known for, but other menu items are solid as well. I will always get an order of onion rings. The hamburger reminds of school cafeteria, but in a good way. Service is friendly and prompt.
We are completely regretful... For not going at Dew Drop Inn before today!! We own a place in Mobile for over 10 years and it's been over 5 years that we told ourselves that we should go... About the saying for Dew's hot dogs being the best: yep! Simply out of this world!! Fully loaded and tasteful. For the record, we were with 2 hungry teenagers (after a nearly 3 miles walk!) and they were full after one hot dog... Also, try the onion rings: clearly hand made with a great pepper zip. If you think A&W's onion rings are excellent, they will be #2 after you taste the ones at Dew's. Finally, the service: warm, welcoming, fast, smiling and doing the extra mile to make our visit a great experience! (We've had home made Gumbo soup samplers that were delicious). After a visit, you will understand why clients always come back at the Dew Drop Inn
Prices have increased tremendously. But dumplings were good. The others had the burgers and they liked them. Service was excellent
Maybe it was from the visit, but it seemed overrated. Waitress did get to us pretty fast; unfortunately, she didn't remember our order at all. I understand being experienced in a field; but it's odd to confidently take an order without a notepad; then get the order completely wrong. I've worked in this field before. If I don't remember something, I'd rather double check with a table than phone it in. Seemed lazy to me. Also, it's a hotdog and fries. We didn't see it worth complaining over nor sending back. Apparently, she didn't see it worth double checking either. I ordered a standard hotdog with a slight customization; no mustard, no sauerkraut. I also ordered onion rings. My friend ordered three hotdogs and fries. We both ended up with standard hotdogs and fries; none of our customizations were applied at all. He only got one hotdog, the other two didn't seem to be there. The toppings I requested to not be there were there. I didn't get onion rings, I got fries. One or two mistakes, sure. But, three is just blatant disregard for a table you took an order from. The hotdogs were a sort of radioactive bright red with a white-centered core. It was a little off-putting. Chili was decent. The steak fries were okay too. Bread was a little too toasted. I trusted the high reviews and recommendations; but I think I was wrong today. On top of that, the pricing was a bit ridiculous. 5 dollars for a hotdog and basically 5 dollars for fries- another 3 for a drink. Basically paid $15 with the tip included for a decent hotdog and fries. I understand that it's supposedly an "elevated" form of the hotdog and fries combo; or at least they think it is. That's why the prices are higher than you'd expect from a ballpark or real hole-in-the-wall establishment, but it simply isn't worth what it's advertising itself to be. The fact that there isn't a "default" combo either is a bit weird too. Paying separate prices for fries and a hotdog is strange. Oldest restaurant in Mobile- or most outdated restaurant in Mobile. Maybe I'll give it another try and see if my mind changes.
A Mobile Classic, my grandparents used to go out on dates here back in the 50’s. Dew Drop just celebrated 100 years. Truly such a cute diner- the food has always been spectacular! I ordered the Double cheeseburger which comes with chili on it- so good! And I got a half order of onion rings and fries- because who doesn’t love a little bit of both?!? Their soup of the day was Shrimp and Corn soup and it was really good- the flavors were on point. The staff are always speedy and friendly. You’re able to get in and out pretty quickly- but note majority of the time they are pretty packed so you may have to wait for a table a time or two. Parking is kinda all over the place but overall it’s worth it !
This is the oldest restaurant in Mobile. Oftentimes the “oldest restaurant” in a city runs on its reputation rather than the quality of its food. Not so at the Dew Drop Inn. I had an oyster loaf that was good, coupled with onion rings that were outstanding. I definitely will eat here again should I be in the neighborhood.
